Richard Quest – aviation or cocoa specialist?

So what has Richard Quest got to do with C.R.E.E.R? I can hear you asking.

He’s well known as an aviation related journalist …

Remember last October when he & his team came to Cote d’Ivoire & were hosted by C.R.E.E.R?  He then created the ‘Coco-nomics’ documentary (unfortunately CNN Freedom Project doesn’t give any official recognition of the help we gave them – there was a lot of explanation of the industry prior to their departure as well as our local help on the ground (our CI team were paid by CNN). http://thecnnfreedomproject.blogs.cnn.com/2014/02/04/cocoa-nomics-now-can-chocolate-companies-stamp-out-slavery/

So we presumed that it would be his only foray into the cocoa market & glance at slavery, but were mistaken …  Last month saw the 2nd International Cocoa Conference http://worldcocoaconference.org/

As the founder, I was annoyed not to be able to go to the 1st Int’l Cocoa Conference in Abidjan, but then to miss the second one, virtually on the doorstep in Europe; was mortifying.   But then some of us are also professionally involved in aviation for a day job to be able to pay for trips to Cote d’Ivoire!

However I was pleased to hear from a variety of sources that Richard Quest spoke out at the Cocoa Conference about the current situation & the politics surrounding it all.  As a result of the conference C.R.E.E.R has been asked to potentially partake in an EU working group to stop child trafficking across West Africa. Richard, if you’re reading this, we have the door open for you to return and a promised discussion on cocoa, children & then aviation!
